People often ask my favorite place to travel. Do you want a Pollyanna answer or the truth?
The Hashesmite Kingdom of Jordan is my most enriching journey. Jordanians are the most welcoming, friendly, and gracious beings I have ever met - and that is saying a lot!
And, they love Americans!

Indiana Jones thundered through this rocky area's narrow canyons.

EmilyGreyPhotography > Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp Host

WADI RUM is an enchanting desert with striated cliffs teeming with swallows and sienna-toned sand. On my vision quest, I wandered past sparse, thorny vegetation, through a sea of thermals, and looked up to view a lone vulture circling the rich blue sky. I envisioned Lawrence of Arabia riding undaunted across this no man's and/or nomad's land.

At last, I rejoin my band of jeepsters. We head out past the dunes to our Bedouin tent camp to watch the sunset, chow down, and wish upon a shooting star.

EmilyGreyPhotography > WADI RUM As an exercise, six other journalists and I walked alone for 10 minutes.
Entranced by nesting swallows, striated sandstone, and aromatic vegetation, I arrived back to camp 25 minutes later. This image depicts the less traveled path I took.
