Articles by me: http://www.naturaltraveler.com/article.php?issue=2009/07/49&article=Panama

***When I asked which is my favorite journey, I often reply, "The latest one."
Without question, one of my best expeditions was my recent one to Panama.
Besides Latinos, I mingled with indigenous Ngobe Bugle, Kuna, and Embera Indians.
I witnessed the history of the Canal Zone and navigated in a skiff amongst gigantic commercial vessels within minutes of a jungle.
In the wild Darien, a small group and I spent over 5 hours jungle trekking in search of the Harpy Eagle, Panama's national bird.
Fresh, delicious seafood, fruits, and vegetables sustained my energy.
Convenient for Americans, the U.S. Dollar is the main currency.
Panama is on EST and below the hurricane belt. Numerous superlatives distinguish this place, a tad smaller than South Carolina.
